History of Hot Air Ballooning
In 1783, the Montgolfier brothers built the first hot air balloon, completing man's oldest dream - FLIGHT. Since then, ballooning has become the symbol of romance and fantasy. Top hats, hoop skirts and champagne have marked the traditions of ballooning. Champagne is still very much a tradition in modern hot air ballooning. The basic design of balloons including the wicker basket has not changed a great deal from what it was in the early days of ballooning.
In the early 1960's, lightweight polyester and self-contained propane were combined to produce the modern aerostat. Since the 1960's, thousands of people have taken to the skies with many more envious souls dreaming of aerostatic flight. Ballooning is man's oldest and still SAFEST form of flight!
